Selected passages from the book will be presented, followed by a discussion with dance historian and curator Eike Wittrock. <\/p>\n

Crossings examines the creative, historical and political dimensions of cruising as a practice of queer world-building. The publication traces the diverse history of this practice and shows its significance as a form of resistance, intimacy and imagination – beyond normative attributions. <\/p>\n

\"Person<\/div><\/div>\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n[vc_column_text css=””]Dietmar Reinbacher[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text css=””]Eike Wittrock is a historian, curator, and professor of dance studies at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna. In his research and pedagogical practice, he explores (queer) aesthetics in historical sources of European dance history, and archives and investigates the performative aspects of queer activism from the 1970s and 1980s, in texts, events, and other forms. He regularly collaborates with artists and students to examine historical material, aiming to counter the lack of imagination and limitations of the present. In an international research project, he is currently exploring, together with colleagues, how LGBTIQ* movements in Germany and Austria contributed to the democratization process. In this context, he is co-developing theater workshops for young people with Gin M\u00fcller. Recent publications include Theater* in queer Alltag und Aktivismus der 1970er und 1980er Jahre (Neofelis Verlag, co-authored with Jenny Schr\u00f6dl), Speculations on the Queerness of Dance Modernism (special issue of the Dance Research Journal, co-edited with Mariama Diagne and Lucia Ruprecht), and the entry on “Theatre” in the Handbook of Queer Contemporary History.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_tta_section][\/vc_tta_accordion][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
