For centuries, evidence of queer love was marginalized, hidden, concealed and destroyed. Only the documents of persecution have largely been preserved. A historical exhibition that tells of the life and love, everyday life and identity of queer people would largely be a show without objects.

Thanks to an expressly implausible research project, Qwien has now succeeded in bringing together the greatest treasures from Austria’s queer past in an exhibition that tells of fulfilled queer life from the Middle Ages to the post-war period.
