Overview

The exhibition Potentialities by the gay American artist Richard Hawkins is currently on show at the Kunsthalle Wien. The Kunsthalle Wien and Qwien are taking this as an opportunity for an exciting collaboration.

Andreas Brunner from Qwien and art mediator Martin Walkner from the Kunsthalle Wien will guide you through the exhibition Potentialities by Richard Hawkins. In his large-format paintings, Hawkins deals with desire – especially gay desire – and explores historical and contemporary personalities and their works. In doing so, he draws on a wide range of archive material. After the tour, we will visit the newly opened Qwien – Center for Queer Culture and History in the 5th district. There, the discussion will be deepened and supplemented by an exclusive insight into the archive and selected archive material.

Meeting point: 17:30 in the cash desk area of the Kunsthalle Wien Museumsquartier

Public transportation from the Kunsthalle Wien to the Qwien:
Bus 59A (direction: Meidling), bus stop “Bärenmühldurchgang” to “Bacherplatz”. A walk of just under a quarter of an hour is planned.
