Scrapbooking workshop

Richard Hawkins’ personal obsessions with/in archives

Richard Hawkins conducts intensive research into topics such as desire, people and their work, repeatedly drawing on archive material. Kunsthalle Wien and Qwien have developed an exciting workshop to accompany the current exhibition Potentialities by the gay American artist Richard Hawkins at Kunsthalle Wien.

The scrapbooking workshop will take place on the premises of Qwien. After a tour of the archive, where we will be given exclusive access to various archive materials, we will create our own scrapbook-style collages from the Qwien magazine collection. On the Qwien premises, we will have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the magazine collection, scan parts of it, process them on the computer and create scrapbooks using the analog materials provided.

As preparation, we recommend taking part in the guided tour of the exhibition Potentialities by Richard Hawkins on March 19, which will be conducted by Andreas Brunner, founding member of Qwien. However, it is also possible to visit the dates independently of each other.

Please register at:

Workshop fee: € 25
