Talk by Stefan Riedl (St. Anna Children’s Hospital and University Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine)
Gender identity can begin to develop in early childhood. When gender dysphoria intensifies with the onset of puberty, depression, anxiety disorders, behavioural disorders, and self-harm — up to and including suicidal ideation — often follow.
Hormone therapies can help relieve these burdens and improve psychological wellbeing.
Stefan Riedl has years of experience with puberty blockers and hormone therapies in adolescents. Through scientific publications, he has examined their effects and side effects, reviewed existing studies, and published his own research.
He can speak with authority on all key areas of concern: How do puberty blockers affect physical development (growth, weight), bone health, mental health, cognitive abilities, and fertility?
