Guilherme Maggessi & Rafal Morusiewicz
A project presentation by Maggessi/Morusiewicz in the context of their artistic research project “W/ri/gh/ting Archives through Artistic Research” (FWF | PEEK AR716)
The project presentation “A Sketch for Wolfgang” brings together works that offer insight into the ongoing working process of Maggessi/Morusiewicz’s artistic-research project. Methodologically, the duo explores the entanglement of artistic and archival research, posing questions such as: When do artists enter the archive?, What kind of archives do artists create?” And conversely: When does the work of archivists become artistic—and what artistic methods come into play?
In collaboration with Qwien, the duo is engaging with the personal estate of Austrian activist, architect, artist, and scene figure Wolfgang Reder. Alongside reviewing and digitizing parts of his personal archive, they are also developing an oral-history project about his life. Including interviews with Reders friends and relatives. This project presentation is conceived as an interim report and experimental insight, in which materials, anecdotes, questions, and reflections are presented in an artistic and dialogical form.
